April 15, 2017
Whoa, time gets away from me! It just seems to fly by with such busy days at the shop! We had a great trip to Rosemont with the buses. Now it's on to a busy schedule at the shop. Between in store retreats, classes and Row by Row 2017 preparations, we are going a bit crazy. In between, we are rearranging the shop, adding new samples weekly and have lots of fabric shipments coming in. There's always something new!
Beginning on April 24th and running through the 29th, we are participating in the Shop Hop with eight other shops. Stop in for great deals and if you hit all eight shops, you'll be in the running for $400 in gift cards as the grand prize! Yes that's $50 from each shop! There will be other gift cards for those completing from 3 to 5 shops. Don't miss out as each shop will have their own specials and door prizes!
We are getting back to normal with our staff. Two were out on medical leave and are now back with us! We're so happy to have them back. In the meantime, we've added Theresa to our staff and we now number 10 employees! We continue to grow thanks to the support of our wonderful customers!
Now it's my turn to go out on medical leave. Shoulder surgery is calling. Hopefully I will be able to be back serving our customers at the cutting table by mid June. (It's really hard trying to cut with an arm in a sling, especially when it's the right arm and you're right handed!) In the meantime, you'll see me in and out taking care of office items and teaching a bit. I hope to be able to sew samples. Ironing might be a bit of a chore but maybe a friend will help me out!
That's it for now. Continue sewing. We know gardens are calling but you all should find 20 minutes a day to sit down at your machines and take a break from the outdoors. It's good for the soul! Mary
Going To Pieces Quilt Co.
There's so much going on at the shop, it will take me awhile to share with you!
First off, yes, we are a shop being featured in Quilt Sampler Magazine in the fall! The magazine hits the stands on Sept. 6th but you can pre-order the magazine from us for $6.95 plus tax. We are taking orders now for both the magazine and our featured quilt. Our quilt is called Santa's Magic and you can view pictures under the Quilt Sampler tab on this site. It's an adorable 39 x 39 inch wall hanging. A bit of applique and a bit of piecing. It's a great holiday quilt to display! Get your order in now as once the magazine hits the stand, we're sure our kits will be gone. The kit can be preordered. Cost is $79.95. If we ship it's an additional $10. We've had a great experience working with Meredith Corp. for our entry into the magazine. We think you'll enjoy seeing our shop in a national publication! Woohoo for Appleton and the Fox Cities! Thank you to everyone that let Meredith Corp know about us. We so appreciate your confidence in our shop!
Next up is Row by Row! It's off to a great start already. You may now purchase our kit which is $19.95. Please remember that you must visit our shop to get your row. We are not allowed to mail them out as of this time so please don't ask us to do that. It's against the rules and we don't want to be dropped from the Row by Row Experience for non compliance! If you want to see all the Wisconsin rows simply go to Rowbyrowexperience.com and click on WI and all the rows will pop up along with the license plates.
Our row is called Swing and Dance Like Nobody's Watching. Sandy did a great design job as always. Our license plate says Swingin Quilter following our tire swing theme. We have plenty of kits cut and enough fabric to do more so won't run out this summer.
Next we want to let you know that our holiday fabric is arriving! We have 4 lines by Moda, one from Henry Glass and more! And as always, we buy the entire line along with patterns to make sure you can make whatever you want! No messing around with just a few bolts of a line. We need the entire line! Again Doug Leko did a great book for Holly Taylor's Town Square line and we have kits of almost all the designs. Samples are displayed in our sample gallery and also just on our gallery shots on this website. Check it out!
Halloween fabrics will be arriving shortly! We've order two adorable lines for this year. We still have some great Halloween from last year's lines so check out the fall section in the shop!
We've searched out new patterns and have set up a section up front in the shop for the newest selections. Sharon Rambo does a great job arranging our patterns for us! With over 2000 patterns to choose from, you'll never run out of projects!
Kim Diehl's What Nots Club 5 will be starting up soon. We're going to be cutting kits to be available in August. You must sign up for this club so make sure you do so if you want it. It's become a very popular club so don't wait to sign up!
We continue searching out new blocks of the month for you all. In our newsletter you'll see what we have currently, along with a new BOM starting in Sept. If you want the newest Marcus BOM, don't wait! It's going to fly out of the shop when it arrives! It is gorgeous and that's all I'm going to say about it here!
Check out our special events tab for happenings in Sept.! You will not want to miss out on our Sept. 16th event! It's going to rock the quilting world in the Appleton area!
Now it's time to head to my sewing machine to finish a sample for the shop. Once again we want to say a huge thank you to all our loyal customers and friends. We wouldn't be where we were if it weren't for all of your support. And our wonderful staff can't be thanked enough for all they do to help me and Joanne as we continue to grow the shop.
